Fitness Notes #1 : Pushups, Left Kicks and Consistency vs Intensity

Strength Technique

It’s the beginning of the year and many of you have mentioned working towards doing full pushups! Here is a video of some proper pushup technique. You’ll notice that her hips and shoulders are level, and her shoulders don’t roll forward. Try to focus on level shoulders and hips, no matter what pushup variation you’re working on.

Boxing & Muay Thai

This video is a highlight video of Muay Thai fighter Buakaw using his left body kick to defeat/control his opponents’ boxing. Buakaw is a Thai champion with almost 300 fights. He is known for his fast, powerful left kicks, and his explosive strikes which you’ll see in this video.

Training Tips

Getting back into a training routine after the holiday season is always difficult. Our advice is to lower your expectations for having an amazing first session. Just get that first one out of the way and everything gets easier.

Remember, consistency is the secret ingredient to fitness. If it’s been a little while since you’ve moved or trained, we suggest easing your way back in so you can get back into your routine. If you’re too ambitious, you’ll get in the way of your own consistency (because you’re too sore, fatigued, or overwhelmed at the idea of “crushing it” again this week).
